Annual North River Camp-Out
near Green Cove, TN

Here we all, ready to go!

Meet Jessie

It took the kids about 10 minutes after the 6 hour drive to locate swim gear and hit the water. We camped right on the 'river'.

The second day, we relocated to another campsite further back in the campground.

Here is our double tent.

Sitting around the campfire is good for more than roasting marshmallows!

Whigg Meadows in North Carolina.

We love the mountains, but being able to get out and RUN in a big field after all those trees is fantastic.

Ben contemplates the view and the fog. It rained nearly the whole day, we got back to camp soaked through.

Who could resist seeing where that windy track goes?

The fog and rain made visibility on the already-dangerous gravel roads even worse.
But it IS pretty!

By Wednesday morning, we were ready for some 'town' time. Jake celebrated clean laundry with a cinnamon roll from Tellico Grains as big as his head.
This was the same day we saw a baby bear crossing the road.

That afternoon, we went swimming at Indian Boundary Lake and had our only shower of the week.

Ben keeps an eye on the fire for us.

Aunt Bee came for the last 2 days, bringing counsins (and friend). Chandler was the only girl. 'Poor' thing!

The next morning, the boys got in the water first thing. We girls decided to go for hike. I drove us back to Whigg Meadows to see it in the sun.

I love this place!

So does Jess!

Chan and I went exploring and found this little lake.

ta-da!

Jessie liked it too. There was MUD in the feeder stream!

Jess does her infamous 'ear flip' trick.

Miss Chan has been very well-kissed by the sun this summer!

We arrived back at camp to discover the boys had spent the whole day in the water, working on a dam.

Marshmallows are the perfect end to our last day.

See you next year, North River!
