Jessie Bear
Half German Shepherd/ half lion

How Much So Far?

This is Jessie, we got her June 3, 2006 at the Pet Depot in Cullman, AL
She was a "pound puppy" C.A.A.W.A. rescue and was looking for a home.
She was about 7 months old.

She is about half German Shepherd and has a good bit of 'hound' in her as well. We say she is half lion because of her huge toe pads and the fact that she plays like a cat, lots of batting and pouncing. She uses her paws more than any dog we have ever known.

Did someone say there was mud?

Jessie has had her moments, she has not housetrained very quickly, but she is gentle and easy to control on the lead.
She is great in the car, which makes her excellent for us! We take her as many places as we can. She is learning fast!

Her first vet visit was June 5, she had kennel cough and an upset stomach, a round of antibiotics along with her rabies shot soon had her feeling fine. She was 33 pounds. the vet said she 'might' hit 45 pounds full grown.

She went camping 5 nights in 'bear country' June 11-16th

She was spayed June 19th. She was 38 pounds
Suture removal on June 27th
Follow-up for mild irritation and possible infection at site on July 10th, she was 43 pounds

Jessie swimming with Ben Summer 2006
She was 63 pounds.

Jessie and Kat are best friends...ha!

She went for her rabies vax June 2007, she was 73 pounds.
So much for 'maybe 40'.

At her 2008 check-up, she was 78 pounds

At her 2009 check-up, she was 75 pounds.

At her 2010 check-up, she was 74 pounds.

She's 6, stiff in the hips, we give her meds every day now.
We've had to modify her diet, she's not as active and started putting on weight, which is not good for that stressed joint.
