Olympia gets a bath from Wonder

Ifrit and Olympia
Ifrit was put to sleep February 25,
2008
She had lost the use of her rear legs over the course of several days.
We took her to the vet, hoping it was an ear infection or otherwise treatable,
but he pointed out a small tumor on her spine. She would only get worse
and die slowly while we watched her decline.
She tweeted and chirped happily as he carried her back to give her the shot,
we all stood around and cried.
Her funeral was lovely, we waited for Matt to get home and buried her next to
the rats in the side yard. She was wrapped in a green cloth and we laid
her on a bed of Timothy hay, her favorite treat.

Oreo Blizzard Skunkfluff
Blitz
Blitz is our new piggie, bought so Olympia would not be so lonely. We
waited a month until the kids were ready to have a new pet and while the initial
meeting did not go swimmingly, after a day or two, the pigs were getting along
without MUCH issue.
In August 2008, we added to our piggie herd!

Tanuki Pickleo

Mochii

In April 2011, Blitz killed herself, they
were in an outdoor pen and she stuck her head through a gap in the fencing and
snapped her own neck.
We buried her near Snapdragon on the hillside.
In August 2011, the pigs all got out of
their outside enclosure and one of the dogs killed them. They had gotten out
at least a dozen times before and we often just left them out grazing for a
hour or two. We gave them cucumbers at 7 and went back out at 8 to refill water
bottles and they were dead. I am guessing Zephyr did it, she loves a running
creature and she's a rat killing breed. But Jessie has the history of killing
small animals, so it could go either way. Maybe they just got scared to death
and keeled over en masse. Either way, we are done herding.
