On the 15th, we got together back at our house for some fun with the sun!
First, the kids made their own solar
cookers to cook hot dogs!
*thanks to Amy and Suzette for their photos!

You need a clear plastic cup, a foam
cup, a strip of black construction paper, a piece of clear plastic and a piece
of tinfoil.
Wrap the black paper around the plastic cup, pop in the hot dog, cover in clear
plastic to make a tight seal across the top.
Slide the whole thing in the foam cup. Wrap a piece of tin foil around
the top of the cup, making a funnel shape to channel the power of the sun!
You can bake sliced apples if you would rather. The whole thing took about an hour to make the cookers and let the hot dogs cook!

While we waited, the kids had ice races, they picked a color to see which melted fastest!

It was pretty much a tie!

Then they raced to melt plain cubes on their heads!

Then we all made 'coolers' to keep
an ice cube from melting using bubble wrap, newspaper, tape, foam plates and
waxed paper.
The kids designed and built as they chose to using the materials at-hand.
The longest ice cube lasted almost 5 hours outside!!

Inside, the younger set make tracks!

And outside, cookers were raided as lunch was on!

The kids played all afternoon, putting on shows and running around in the yard.

We had 38 kids! Yippee!
