Indian Forest Campground
Out in the open
No play area
Owner/manager was very rude,
I.E.: unwilling to give any assistance when we explained we might be there
a couple days with no transportation.
He said the site was booked for the next night and we had to find a way to
move the camper, despite the fact there were easily 80 other sites that were
open, and his own truck was parked outside.
Free wi-fi
No security
Bathrooms were clean.
I would not stay there again.

We did not check out the campground, but
the park and beach access were wonderful.
We were the only people there on such a cold day. There was plenty of
parking, several parking lots, all connected to the beach via boardwalks.
There were not enough bathrooms, there should be a bathroom at each parking
lot, instead there was quite a hike involved.
I would certainly give this a shot for camping, there is security and the
campground is very close to the beach.
Thursday:
We got up and fed the kids breakfast at the
hotel.
Suzette hitched a ride with a very nice couple, Tom and Patty Cabeen, to the
van and they followed her to the repair place.
She called and said the guy said she needed a transmission cooler and could put it on in a couple hours.
We arrange for late check-out at the Quality Inn where we are staying-which they are very nice and agree we can stay until 3.
The kids head to Suzette's room where I encourage some fort building, which keeps them happy but later backfires because the girls defect to my room to build a cootie-free fort of their own and start using my freshly-made beds for supplies!
It's nearly noon here, I am hoping to hear from Suzette soon!

We talked over our options-replacing fuses each time we stopped the van on the
way home and having it fixed there or staying here and letting Mark look at
it Friday morning.

We opted to stay, so we could go to the state park a few miles away and set up the camper, Mark could come get the van Friday morning and we would be able to spend time at the beach and do some hiking. We went to Wal-Mart and got sand toys, swimsuits for Suzette's kids (it is supposed to warm up a lot), groceries and a few other things we needed in the camper.
We headed to the state park and they are all back-in sites. After an hour of trying, it was decided to move on. We went to the KOA down the road with beach access-$109 a night plus tax-to CAMP. We went to Ocean Grove and they had no sites with 30 amp outlets, though they sent us to 2 different ones before that came up.
Keep in mind, it is dark, COLD and we have
not eaten since the left-over half a pizza around 11.
We headed back toward the motel we stayed at the night before and ended up stopping
at Indian Forest Campground and used the after-hours check in, found a site
and set up. We finally ate-sandwiches and strawberries-and went to bed.
Mark, the car repair guy, loaned us his old shop heater for the night.

Friday
Mark came early and got the van, we went to pay for last night when the office
opened and to buy some propane.
But we can't get the propane tank off to have it checked, I think it has rusted
into place.

Later:
That went well! He had the van back in under 3 hours and we were on our
way!
We went to the beach, but were unable to get a campsite there-the limit is 6
per site, so we played a few hours, had lunch and drove on toward home, stopping
at Lake City for the night.
We got the furnace going, but it shuts off the pilot light when it reaches the thermostat temp, so that goes on the list and we are using the little heater.
Don't let the beach pics fool you, it's COLD here, that warm-up has not happened. I think the kids all have hypothermia of the brain.

Friday Trip log
We got in, had a hot meal, everyone had a shower and put on mostly clean clothes, we are snugged into our bunks and ready for a warm night and to gear up for our long haul home tomorrow. We are all ready to see the Daddy's!
