Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.

We hit the road by 7 this morning and finally arrived at our room just outside Disney around 8 tonight.  We are pooped!

Our room is pretty...basic.  We have had worse and the Trip Advisor ratings are better for here than any other comperably-priced room in the area.  I googled for auto or room theft here and came up with nothing.  It's nothing compared to our seaside rooms, but it's clean-I hope...there is a smell...maybe stale smoke?  Besides, last time we were at Disney, we slept in a tent on the ground.

On the way here, other than driving and driving and driving, we stopped at St. George Island for a while and saw the light house and played on the beach.  The traffic was awful, lots of slows and stops and we ended up taking 2-lane backroads for all but a very short stint on the Interstate.  Some of that was planned, we wanted to do the scenic route to get here and we drove along the ocean for several hours.  It was so pretty.

Going from the Gulf to along bays and sounds, the beaches changed so much, long stretches of rocky and muddy land and these really cool driftwood and dead tree stumps sticking out, all weathered and faded.  It was beautiful.  And annoying because there was constant road work and no shoulder to pull over to get pictures!
